VALORANT callout terms

What is default in VALORANT?

Default has two meanings in VALORANT. A default, or default plant, is the standard spot to plant the spike on a site, usually behind its biggest piece of cover. Defaulting is a round plan where attackers spread out across the map to gather information before picking a site.

Default plant

Every site has a spot where the spike is usually planted: safe from most angles and easy to defend afterwards. "Planted default" tells your team exactly where the spike is without describing it.

Defaulting

A default round means attackers take map control everywhere at once, one or two players per area, then group up where the defense looks weakest. It's the opposite of rushing one site.

Non-default plants

Planting away from default ("planted open", "planted for Heaven") can catch retakers out, because their lineups and utility are aimed at the default spot.
