The basics

How VALORANT callouts work

01

Site letter first

Most callouts start with the area they're in: A, B, C or Mid, then the spot, as in "B Main" or "Mid Courtyard". Hear the letter and you already know which half of the map to look at.

02

In-game names and community names

VALORANT prints the official names on the minimap and shows the one you're standing in. On top of those, players use community names like Heaven, Hell, Default and CT. Every map here marks which is which.

03

Call it short

"Two B Main, one low" beats a sentence. Say how many, where, and how hurt they are, then stop talking so the next call can be heard.

Glossary

VALORANT callout terms, explained

The same words come up on every map. Here's what each one means, with real spots that use it.

Site
The bombsite itself, where the spike is planted. Most maps have an A and a B site; Haven and Lotus add a C site.
Abyss · A SiteAscent · A SiteBind · A SiteBreeze · A SiteCorrode · A SiteFracture · A Site
Main
The attackers' main lane into a site. "A Main" is the usual way onto A, and the first fight of most A pushes happens there.
Abyss · A MainAscent · A MainBreeze · B MainCorrode · A MainFracture · A MainIcebox · A Main
Lobby
The attacker-side area in front of Main, where a team gathers and uses utility before a push.
Abyss · A LobbyAscent · A LobbyBind · A LobbyBreeze · A LobbyCorrode · A LobbyFracture · B Lobby
Heaven
A raised spot that overlooks a site, usually only reachable by defenders. Whoever holds Heaven sees the whole plant. What is Heaven? →

Hell
The low spot right under Heaven. Defenders hide there, and attackers clear it with Heaven before planting.
Ascent · HellHaven · A HellSplit · B Hell
Mid
The middle of the map between the sites. Taking Mid splits the defenders and opens a second way onto each site.
Abyss · Mid BendAscent · Mid BottomBreeze · Mid BottomCorrode · Mid BottomHaven · Mid CourtyardIcebox · Mid Blue
Default
The standard plant spot on a site, usually behind the biggest piece of cover. "Planted default" tells your team exactly where the spike is. What is Default? →
Ascent · B Default
Back site
The far side of a site, away from where attackers come in. Defenders retake from there; attackers check it after planting.
Abyss · A SecretAscent · B BackBreeze · B BackHaven · B BackIcebox · B BackPearl · B Hall
Short
The shorter, closer route onto a site, as opposed to Long. Hitting Long and Short together splits a defender's attention.
Bind · A ShortHaven · A ShortBind · B Short
Long
The longer, open route onto a site. Long lanes favor rifles and Operators, so they're usually smoked before a push.
Bind · B LongHaven · A LongHaven · C Long
Cubby
A small nook a player can tuck into. Cubbies are classic hiding spots, so attackers clear them before walking past. What is Cubby? →

Elbow
The bend where a corridor turns a corner. Elbows give close-range angles on anyone walking through. What is Elbow? →

Window
An opening that looks into another area. Players peek through windows to catch rotations or crossings.

Tower
A raised structure on or near a site. Like Heaven, it gives a high angle over the plant.

Garage
A building attackers can use to hit a site from the side instead of through Main.

Tree
A spot named after the tree in it. On Ascent and Lotus it's a key link between Mid and the A side.

FAQ

Callouts, answered.

What are callouts in VALORANT?

Callouts are the agreed names for places on a map, like A Main, Heaven or B Link. Saying "one in A Main, low" tells your whole team where an enemy is in a second, which is why every team learns them.

How many callouts does each VALORANT map have?

Between 20 and 31. Across all 13 maps there are 343 callouts here: Abyss 23, Ascent 30, Bind 26, Breeze 27, Corrode 22, Fracture 25, Haven 30, Icebox 31, Lotus 29, Pearl 28, Split 28, Summit 24, Sunset 20.

Are callouts shown in the game?

Yes, partly. VALORANT prints the official callout names on the minimap and shows the one you're standing in. Players also use community names the game doesn't show, like Heaven, Hell, Default and CT; those are marked Community on these maps.

What does Heaven mean in VALORANT?

Heaven is a raised spot that overlooks a site, usually reachable only by defenders, such as A Rafters on Ascent or A Tower on Bind and Split. Hell is the low spot right under it.

What does CT mean in VALORANT?

CT means the defender spawn and the area right in front of it. The term comes from Counter-Strike, where defenders are the counter-terrorists.

How do I learn callouts quickly?

Open a map, switch to the side you're playing, and use Test yourself: it lights up one spot at a time and asks for its name. Learn the sites first, then Mid, then the links between them.

Which maps does this cover?

All 13 competitive maps, including the newer Abyss, Corrode and Summit: Abyss, Ascent, Bind, Breeze, Corrode, Fracture, Haven, Icebox, Lotus, Pearl, Split, Summit and Sunset. The data was last checked for patch 13.08.

Are VALORANT callouts translated into other languages?

Partly. In some languages the game translates a few minimap names (Spanish shows "Árbol" for Tree, for example), while names like Main and Lobby stay in English. Most teams use the English names in comms.

How do I see callout names in the game?

VALORANT shows the name of the area you're in under the minimap, and a location ping shows the callout name of the spot you pinged.
